Gokarna
This lovely royal game Sanctuary also known as Gokarna Safari Park, lies about 10 km. north-east of Kathmandu, It is situated on the bank of the river Bagmati. Many wild animals such as spotted deer, can be view in the Sanctuary from as elephant back. An entrance feel is change for entrance to the game Sanctuary at the gate of by arrangement with a travel agency. On the northern side of Gokarna on the way to Sundarijal is a pagoda of Gokarnashewor Mahadev, which stand on one of the Bagmati gorge.
Buddhanilkantha
About 8 km. north of Kathmandu, at base of Shiva Parvati hill is a remarkable colossal sty of Lord Vishnu, Reclining on a bed of snakes. This is one of the masterpieces of stone statue end the middle of a small pond and seems to float in water.
Kirtipur
It is small town, 8km southwest of Kathmandu lies atop a hill. This historic town has many things to offer like old shrines and temples and old houses. Some of the folks are typically dressed in traditional costumes, and can be spotted working on looms.
Sankhu
It is a typical newari town with many fine old buildings & temples. Beyond the village up along flight of stoned stairs, is Bajrayogini, and historical temple with a beautiful view of the local areas.
Dhulikhel
The ancient town is situated 32 km east of Kathmandu on the side of the Arniko Rajmarga (Kathmandu-Kodari highway). It is a lovely place famous for its scenic beauty and old tradition, from snowy ranges from Karyolung in the east to Himchuli in the west. There is a medieval township Banepa between Kathmandu and Dhulikhel. There are frequent bus services to Dhulikhel from old Bus park (Ratna Park).
Panauti
Standing in a peaceful Valley roughly 6 kilometers south of Banepa, the small beautiful town of Panauti is located. This town is relatively untouched but where festivals preserving the precious tradition of the indigenous Newars are held. It possesses a number of interesting temples, one of which perhaps is the oldest in Nepal. Besides, it is famous for magnificent woodcarvings.
Namo Buddha
Situated on a hill just above Panauti valley is an authentic Buddhist shrine which the indigenous Newars call ‘Namra Bhagawan.’ The Stupa is highly worshipped by Nepalese Buddhists and Tibetan Buddhists. This serene wood proves to be an ideal spot for sentimental meditation. The pious forestation is believed to be the exact location where late King Mahastawa (one of the past Buddha incarnations) sacrificed his own flesh for the sake of a dying tigress and her hungry cubs. The Stupa is highly worshipped by Nepalese Buddhists and Tibetan Buddhists. This serene wood proves to be an ideal spot for sentimental meditation. |
